D. K. Datar

One of the India’s leading and foremost violinist today, Padmashree Pt. D. K. Datar born on 14th Oct 1932 belongs to the Indian tradition set up by the great luminary Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, Padmashree Pt. Datar is a nephew of the late Pt. D. V. Paluskar

He had his Initial training in violin from the violin maestro late Pt. Vigheshwar Shastri and secured futher guidance from the late Pt. D. V. Paluskar. His ‘Gayaki’ style of playing has a unique quality rarely found. His wielding of the instrument displays a bowing technique matched only by his delectable delineation of classical melodies. He is well known for the systematic presentation of ragas with great regards for classical tradition. He excels, equally in playing thumries, dhuns, and other forms of light music.
